Our very own Jordan… itching to get back into the ring

Recent interview with World Boxing news:

London (2 May) Jordan ‘The Thrill’ Gill is feeling "brilliant" and “itching” to get back in the ring on May 10th at Ponds Forge Arena, Sheffield.

The undefeated 19-year-old super featherweight feels he is maturing and developing as a fighter and “can’t wait” to show the results on the undercard to Kid Galahad's fight for the vacant Commonwealth title, live on Channel 5.

"I’m feeling brilliant, I’ve been training now for weeks on end since my last fight and I’m itching to get back in and do it all again," Jordan said.

"I’m still only 19, I’m still developing and since my last fight I think my body has changed significantly - I’m filling out a lot more, getting stronger, I’m bigger at the weight and we’ll see what damage we can do on the 10th.

"I’ve been sparring with Kid Galahad, Leigh Wood, Atif Shafiq, I feel like I’ve improved since my last fight so I’m looking to showcase the results on the night."

Jordan, who hopes to "follow in the footsteps" of the many champions that have been produced by the Ingle Gym in Sheffield, feels he is learning all the time and is motivated by the fighters training around him.

"I’m watching every move and pinpointing what makes them successful and doing it myself and that’s why hopefully I’ll be successful and follow in their footsteps.

"In my last three fights I’ve been hit once, I’m practicing what I do in the gym in the ring and I think I’m going to get some hard fights now coming up and you’re going to see the best of me."

Jordan fights on the undercard of fellow Ingle Gym fighter and newly crowned European super bantamweight champion Kid Galahad as he takes on Australian champion Fred 'The General' Mundraby for the vacant Commonwealth title.
