Functional fitness specialists, Jordan Fitness, have thrown their weight behind City of Leicester Swimming Club’s international competition ambitions by providing sponsorship and equipment to help their athletes’ land based training.
City of Leicester Swimming Club is a specialist squad formed in 1978 to provide enhanced training for talented swimmers from Leicestershire swimming clubs. Working in partnership with British Swimming, the Amateur Swimming Associations and Leicester City Council, the club currently has over 100 swimmers in the scheme.
Over the last six months these talented sports people have compete at the British Championships, The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Championships, European Junior Championships , International Children's Games and the US Open achieving podium places at these championships.
The Club also supports talented swimmers from the age of nine years old, including two junior level swimmers currently part of the prestigious England Talent Programme.
To help support the efforts of the club, Jordan Fitness has supplied functional training equipment including Milo Kit suspension training systems, fit balls, round rollers, benches and Olympic discs.
“We are delighted to be able to play a small part in the development of talented British athletes”, says Zak Pitt, Sales Director at Jordan Fitness. “With our kit forming the basis of the land based training programme, we hope that the Club achieves its ambitions within international competitions”.
“Our weekly training includes land training workouts that take place on poolside and in a sports hall led by a qualified strength and conditioning coach. Each land training session complements the swim training and involves varied workouts that include functional core strength, flexibility, plyometrics, injury prevention, strength and power. Jordan Fitness’s donation of functional fitness equipment will be paramount in helping our athletes realise their full potential”, says Head Coach at Leicester Swimming Club, Alex Dawson.
